Belo Interactive - Belo Interactive owns 19 TV stations, reaching 14% of the US population, and a portfolio of newspapers, including the Dallas Morning News. In order to improve customer service, they selected the Google Search Appliance to power search on 35 of their public websites.

Discovery Communications - Discovery hosts information-packed sites for each of its 14 channels, which collectively garner 120,000 search queries a day. A previous search product was difficult for the Discovery web team to maintain, because it required extensive resources in order to update relevancy algorithms when new content was added to the network. After installing the Google Search Appliance, results were immediate. "Not only have pageviews increased, but the number of daily searches has grown 70 percent based on the value of searching with Google," says Patrick Gardella in the Discovery IT department. "More people are finding information they need, which means they stay longer to read, search further, and shop." It didn't hurt, adds Gardella, that "the Google Search Appliance is easier to set up than your home PC."

PBS - PBS.org is the most visited dot-org site in the world, with 127,000 web pages and member station sites. PBS bought several Google Search Appliances, to search both the dot-org content and their member sites. "We reviewed the product for a couple of weeks. Actual installation took just a few hours, including the first crawl and index. [Furthermore]...XML/XSL has made this very configurable for us. The way Google Search Appliance is set up is really brilliant. It has absolutely been worth it."
